Common Misconceptions and Myths
Witches are all evil.
Well, witches are human. I am sure that there are witches in
the world that use their abilities for "evil" or bad deeds, and believe
that this is ethical. But, witches in general are not innately
evil, nor do they seek out opportunities for malice. *~*The
witches I have met are all rather caring and kind people, as am I!*~*
All witches worship the devil.
Actually, as far as my research has shown, the "devil" is a Christian
belief, and a Christian embodiment of evil. So, NO, most witches do not
believe in "the devil" in a Christian sense, and in turn, do NOT worship
that being. This is not to say that we do not believe in demons
and other nasties. That also doesn't mean that there aren't pagan
traditions that do worship this being.
All witches belong to a the religion called Wicca.
A very common misconception. I ask that you be very
cautious about assuming this, however. There are many, many
different traditions of witchcraft, Wicca being only one of them.
Many witches have some similar beliefs, observe the same holidays,
practice similar methods, but are by no means Wiccan. *~*Please
see the definition of Wicca above.*~* |
